Dr. Aldwin M. Anterola
Chief Science Officer, Veda Scientific

Dr. Aldwin M. Anterola is Co-Founder and Chief Science Officer at Veda Scientific, the first and so far the only cannabis testing laboratory applying the resolution power of multidimensional gas chromatography coupled with time-of-flight mass spectrometry to visualize and understand the complexity of cannabis volatilomes. He is also an Associate Professor at Southern Illinois University Carbondale where he is agent-in-charge of the university’s industrial hemp program while teaching cannabis biology, medical botany, plant biochemistry and cell biology, among other courses. He obtained a PhD in Plant Physiology from Washington State University where he studied the regulation of phenylpropanoid metabolism in pine cell cultures. His research work on terpenoids started with the biosynthesis of moss terpenes, followed by the production of anticancer terpenoid precursors (supported by NIH), and later the floral scent of parasitic plants, in collaboration with chemists, botanists and ecologists. His current research interest is understanding the chemical basis for the differences in the mood-altering and therapeutic effects of cannabis products.
